Global Garden Products SpA (GGP), one of the major European leaders for powered outdoor garden equipment, announces its name change to STIGA SpA.
Headquartered in Castelfranco Veneto (Italy), the Group’s new title is a sign of its significant development and forward direction.
The Group’s future focus is its leading brand STIGA, which has experienced exceptional growth above market standards in all major European countries. In fact, the Group has made substantial investments in innovative products, technology, plants, processes and marketing and sales teams in 13 sales subsidiaries in Europe as well as worldwide distributors.
In addition to STIGA, the Group continues to support its regional brands Alpina, Mountfield, Atco and Castelgarden.
The important OEM and private label business forms a second pillar of the Group’s forward-thinking strategy, which includes supporting major industry players with customized and specifically designed machines with the highest level of quality.
Georg Metz, the Group’s CEO, commented: “This is far more than a mere name change, it illustrates in a wonderful way all the great things STIGA stands for since its creation in Sweden in 1934: innovative products and systems based on highest quality standards. It expresses all the expertise and passion of the Group and the trust and support of its customers and garden lovers all over Europe.”
The Group recognizes that this new chapter in its history would not have been possible without all the success of the various companies and brands forming the Global Garden Products Group in 2003.
This year the Group has grown substantially in various markets mainly due to its leading role in lawn mowing equipment but also with new technologies and applications such as robotic lawn mowers, battery-powered lawn mowers and handheld machines offering outstanding convenience and efficiency with environmentally friendly technology.
The Group also announces a major investment of over EUR 5M in improving manufacturing processes, R&D laboratories and facilities in Italy through 2017/2018.
STIGA S.p.A. is a leading European manufacturer and distributor of lawn mowers and powered garden equipment. Headquartered in Castelfranco Veneto, near Venice, the company has about 1600 employees in its HQ in Italy, its 13 sales subsidiaries in Europe and its plants located in Italy, Slovakia and China. Annual sales in 2017 will exceed EUR 500 million.
The group gathers over 90 years of experience in the market with its leading brand STIGA and four local renowned brands – Mountfield, Atco, Alpina and Castelgarden – and it represents a first-choice partner for OEMs and the private label industry.
